Advancing Fertility Policy: Coalition Meets with Commissioner Šuica’s Office

WIP

The Fertility Coalition recently met with Marco La Marca, Member of Cabinet and Demography Coordinator for Commissioner Dubravka Šuica (Commissioner for Mediterranean and Demography), to discuss how EU-level demographic and health policy can better support people’s reproductive choices.

During the meeting, we presented our shared framework on fertility and demographic change, emphasising a rights-based approach. The discussion touched on several important themes, including access to fertility care, the growing need to address environmental factors affecting reproductive health, as well as housing and employment.

We also highlighted upcoming Coalition work, including a new policy paper on universal access to fertility care, and shared data from the European Atlas to Fertility Treatment Policies and Facts! study. Mr. La Marca expressed openness to continued dialogue and encouraged us to provide further input - particularly around regulations of using the chemicals, healthcare access, and demographic tools.

This exchange reflects the Coalition’s growing role in EU-level policy conversations and the Commission’s interest in working with civil society to shape inclusive, forward-looking approaches to fertility and population policy.
