The Fertility Coalition recently met online with MEP Maria Noichl (S&D, Germany) for an insightful and constructive exchange on fertility, gender equality, and health equity in the EU.
We shared our mission to promote fertility policy based on human rights, dignity, and individual choice - distinct from economic or demography target-driven narratives. We presented our demography policy paper and highlighted upcoming work on environmental factors contributing to infertility.
MEP Noichl welcomed the discussion and expressed openness to further engagement, particularly through her leadership in the All-of-Us Network - a cross-party platform for progressive dialogue on gender and health. She also signalled interest in exploring a potential event focused on chemicals and fertility, and encouraged the Coalition to stay involved in the upcoming FEMM INI Report on gender-specific health inequalities.
Importantly, she acknowledged that infertility had not been on her political radar until raised by our Coalition - demonstrating the impact of our advocacy in elevating this essential issue at the EU level.
We look forward to continued collaboration and to shaping inclusive, rights-based fertility policies together with Parliament allies like MEP Noichl.
